Halloween has come and gone, but we have one more treat for you! Check out all the awesome new features added with the latest update.
MOVE TABS TO EXISTING DOCUMENT
With the last update, we added the ability to move tabs to a new Document. With this update, we have added the ability to move tabs to an existing Document as well. When moving tabs to an existing Document, a version will need to be created in the Document you are moving the tabs to.
LINK DOCUMENT SHARE PERMISSION
A new "Link Document" share permission has been added with this update. This permission gives you explicit control over whether or not the person you are sharing with can insert your Document into theirs. In the past, the Document had to be shared with view, copy, and export permissions as a minimum.
NEGATIVE ANGLE MATE LIMITS
Negative angle mate limits are now supported in Onshape Assemblies. This makes defining range of motion from a neutral position much easier.
LABELS IN FEATURE DIALOGS
New labels appear in feature dialogs with this update. These labels make it clear what the selection is even after selecting entities.
EDIT SECTION VIEW LINE IN DRAWINGS
You can now edit section view lines and add or remove jog points. Simply right-click the section view line and choose "Edit." Left-click an existing point to remove, left-click on new geometry to add a point.
UNITS PULLDOWN IN DRAWINGS DIMENSION PANEL
A new units option has been added to the Dimension panel in Onshape Drawings. This makes it easy to change the units of an individual dimension in your drawing.
FEATURESCRIPT DOCUMENTATION HYPERLINKS
New hyperlinks have been added in the FeatureScript documentation. This makes it easy to jump to various sections of the documentation without having to search.
WHAT’S NEW IN THE ONSHAPE APP STORE
Along with all the improvements to Onshape, there were also updates to the Onshape App Store! Let’s take a look.
ExactFlat
The latest version has new significant usability and performance enhancements, including:
- Improved usability and performance across the product
- 3D piece editing to define and place cut lines
- Seam allowance preview and output
- Notch tags used to help reduce assembly times

openBoM
openBoM, available in the Onshape App Store, recently released new features available to all Onshape users. New features include:
- “Group by name” option to create a BOM for an Onshape Assembly;
- Exporting a BOM to Excel, CSV and PDF;
- Creating and organizing BOM properties with Property Tables;
- Creating a copy of an existing BOM;
- Adding images in a BOM. Currently manually added; a future release will support automatic image generation; and
- Personalizing your openBoM user profile (including personalized avatars to shared BOMs).

SimWise
SimWise 4D is a Windows desktop application that provides a comprehensive set of Mechanical Simulation capabilities and can access your Onshape part or assembly model directly, transferring geometry, assembly structure, mass and inertia properties, and assembly constraints from Onshape to SimWise 4D.
