Few people have actually modeled a sprocket. It is a component whose CAD model is usually downloaded from a vendor website or component catalog. This is unfortunate, because a sprocket model is a nice blend of simple and complex features.
By understanding how to model a sprocket, you will gain knowledge of how to approach designs with patterns of intricate detail. It’s the perfect part for a tutorial. Watch the video at the top of this post and gain an understanding of how to build a 16-tooth sprocket to support a No. 40 roller chain.
