1. Intellectual Property (IP) Tracking Dashboard
The Onshape Intellectual Property (IP) Tracking dashboard gives Document owners the ability to track every user action, including all access locations, copies, and document exports, of your company’s valuable Intellectual Property.
No other system can do this because no other system is truly cloud-native. Only Onshape lets companies rapidly assess if their intellectual property may be at risk, and determine where that risk may lie. In addition, this list of anyone who is connected to your enterprise is kept in perpetuity, enabling users to track every interaction with their IP.

2. Release Management Change Detection
Because Onshape is the only system that directly understands manufacturing objects like parts, assemblies, drawings and configurations as true database objects without files getting in the way – only Onshape can check exactly what has changed (both physical and metadata) per object, per release. This means Onshape can show approvers exactly what changed and avoid mistakes of re-releasing unchanged objects.

3. Parametric Replicate
When the pattern changes, all Assembly geometry, including all components and mates, update automatically. And when the Assembly updates, the Bill of Materials (BOM) updates automatically – eliminating potentially expensive errors and mistakes.

4. Sheet Metal Fold Orientation
Onshape now gives users the ability to set the up-direction of Sheet Metal flat patterns. This also allows for increased control over appearance and bend notes in Drawings.

5. Mate Ball Limits
With Mate Ball Limits, users can now add rotational limits to ball mates in Assemblies. This defines a cone of rotation for your ball joint. Because Onshape uses higher-order mates like sliding, rotating, and ball mates, users can intelligently add limits to each degree of freedom, something not possible with typical low-level mates in other systems. Ball Mate Limits enable the motion in products like joysticks to be precisely defined.

6. Ruled Surface Feature
For designers and engineers, few things are more important than ensuring a smooth, seamless transition between edges. With the Ruled Surface feature, Onshape makes it easy for users with intuitive, “drag and drop” functionality. Ruled Surface is essential for defining complex drafted parts and parting surfaces.

8. Precise Dynamic Linking for Collaboration
Because Onshape is the only true cloud-native CAD platform, only Onshape can track and share the evolving source of design truth with collaborators instantly with the required access controls.
Onshape enhanced this by allowing reproduction of the specific state of the design (exploded state, view state, etc.) in the shared URL, making the intent even more clear for the recipient.
