Achieve More in Less Time: Why 3D Design Flows Better With a 3D Mouse

By Neil Cooke / April 26, 2016

Do you CAD all day long? Is your mouse hand getting tired?

The benefits of using a 3D mouse are well known throughout the CAD world, but did you know you can also use a 3D mouse with Onshape, on Windows and Mac? That’s right – we are pleased to announce that Onshape now supports the complete range of 3Dconnexion products including the SpaceNavigator, SpacePilot Pro, SpaceMouse Pro, and the CadMouse – on both Windows and Mac.

We first announced our partnership with 3Dconnexion last August, when Windows users could boost their Onshape productivity with 3D mice. Now, everything’s compatible with Macs as well.

If you’re a long time user of 3Dconnexion products, then you’ll know why we’re excited. If you’ve never used a 3D mouse before, why not give it a go?

In the video above, I demonstrate the SpaceMouse Pro and the CadMouse working together in Onshape on a Mac. You’ll get an idea of how to operate the devices, the benefits of being able to simultaneously pan, zoom, and rotate, and how using both devices at the same time is a comfortable and efficient two-handed workflow that feels better and enables you to achieve more in less time.

Take your designs into the 3rd dimension with 3Dconnexion and Onshape!
