The Onshape Learning Center offers self-paced courses and learning pathways that cover skills tested on the exam. If you are new to CAD we recommend starting with CAD Basics.
Regardless of your skill level we recommend you go through Onshape Fundamentals, including both the CAD and Data Management sections.
As you work through these courses, don’t just watch the content. Make sure you go through the exercises. Hands-on practice is the best way to develop the skills and modeling efficiency.
Challenge Yourself with CAD Challenges
CAD Challenges provides an excellent way to sharpen your modeling skills while practicing problem-solving under time constraints. Unlike a traditional tutorial that walks you through each step, CAD Challenges allows you to test your ability to interpret a drawing and determine your own modeling strategy, similar to how you will be tested on the exam.
CAD Challenges is available as a free app within Onshape. After subscribing through the Onshape App Store, you can access the app from the right-side panel within your Onshape workspace. Once launched, you’ll be able to browse available challenges, select a difficulty level, and choose between different challenge types. Challenges range from simple single-part models to more complex multi-part and assembly-focused exercises.
After selecting a challenge, you’ll review the provided information and create the model on your own. When you believe your solution is complete, you can submit it to be evaluated automatically. The challenge tool will compare your model against the expected solution and determine whether your design meets the required criteria.
If your solution is correct, you’ll receive additional performance information, including how long it took you to complete the challenge and how your time compares with other users who have completed the same exercise. This can be a valuable way to measure your progress and identify opportunities to improve your modeling efficiency.
